Hi,
I am using a Forerunner55 (no altimeter!) syncing to Connect and Outdooractive.
Yesterday, I have been running on a flat road along the sea. After the run, I was checking the elevation profile of my run in the Connect app. At some points, it just showed me a 30 meter elevation, followed by a descend, like running over a hill. I checked another walking tour from the day before, and again, there was a steep "hill" in my track. Also on this tour, I was walking along the waterfront, on complete flat ground. Then I made the following observations:
- When switching to "GPS" as elevation source in the web version of Garmin Connect, the track was shown correct, without the mysterious "hills" in the track.
- When switching back to survey/topo data as elevation source, the "hills" reappeared.
- I don't have the faulty data in Outdooractive. There, I see a seemingly correct elevation profile.
Is it possible that Garmin is using faulty topographic information? Isn't this supposed to be the more reliable source, which is even recommended to correct wrong data from barometer/altimeter or GPS? What's going on here?
