Metric changes needed. Why can't we have lbs and km's?

I know this issue goes way back but I wanted to raise so hopefully the folks at Garmin finally decide to look at an update for this. I've been a Garmin guy for years and probably on my 6th watch now, but it's amazing how we still cant have a mix of metrics. For Canada (and other countries) thats lbs and km's. I know there are ten of thousands of Cdn Garmin users and I've heard this issue raised on so many different occasions.

Would at least like to get a response from the Garmin team as to why or why not. One things for sure, its time to address this issue.

Thanks!

  • I have to contribute my $.02 here.  I'm a 68 year old Canadian that weighs 80 kg and is 183cm tall.  Canada went metric 50 years ago.  I have used kg's and km's ever since.  Not all Canadians are still stuck on lbs :Grinning  I appreciate that some are, but I must say in my circle, we are SI all the way.  Give it a try - it's so much better than the old lbs (and 16 oz) system.

  • Yes fair point, but when you consider the entire fitness industry in Canada is using Lbs still it does have an effect. All of our weights in gym's, the machines we use and the plates on racks are mostly pounds. It would be a simple programming effrort for Garmin to provide one other option that would be mix of lbs and km's. Hence catering to all of us.
