Can Garmin show Diving activities some love?

It feels like Diving does not exist as an activity in many places in Garmin connect.

For example, on the profile page, under "what I do" it has all sorts of sports but not scuba diving. Wouldn't take much to add it I assume.

Another example would be challenges. There are challenges for all sports other than diving.

Other places, like the "in focus" cards, one can add a summary for all activities (which includes dives) or a specific type of activity, and diving is also missing there.

Lastly, things like having Dive Readiness available as a card in Connect, just like training readiness.

It currently feels like a fragmented experience and diving feels like an afterthought. It's been years since Garmin released the diving watches and Garmin Dive app, is it not time to include diving activity throughout the rest of the ecosystem?

You can do that already now. See my profile:

Edit you Public Profile settings at https://connect.garmin.com/modern/settings/publicProfile, and add whatever sport you want there:

Only a very limited subset of sports has the monthly challenges. Basically only the main disciplines Walk, Run, Cycling, Swimming, Strength and Yoga. Diving is not really a sport suitable for challenges. I consider diving challenges potentially very dangerous. You should plan your dives carefully and wisely, not running after some records or challenges.

For the reminding wishes, I recommend suggesting them to Garmin at Share Ideas | Garmin

  • Using "Other" which had a generic icon attached to it feels more like a workaround than having a real option like for the rest of the stuff. It just seems neglected.

Aso, what do you mean diving isn't suitable for challenges? Most of the challenges are like "do 20 of those" or "do 4 hours of those" etc. If they are going to have a challenges feature, why half *** it and not add more than just a handful of things?

Lastly, I'm posting here because maybe there are other people agreeing with me and this could get some traction. Using Garmin's form is a waste of time if I'm being honest.

Just like tens of thousands of other existing sports, including most of those ~200 supported by Garmin directly. Serves well its purpose.

I mean it is not safe to push someone to dive more just to get a badge, because you should plan your diving differently than by hunting badges.

That's fine and I have aboslutely nothing against it, but it is unlikely to be seen by anyone at Garmin, so it may not have any effect either.

  • The other "tens of thousands of sports" don't have a dedicated line of products for them. No matter how you want to put it, this just shows negligence and incoherence between their products.

Having challenges for diving isn't "pushing" anyone. It's just a way to level up the account by doing the activity. Diving isn't like running, one has to get trained and certified. It's on the person to make sure they aren't pushing beyond their limits. Some watch with some challenges would be a ridiculous excuse if someone fails to do so. Nobody plans dives according to badges, it would just be nice to have.

I have seen several times moderators here directly providing feedback to the dev team, albeit usually for serious bugs and not feature requests like that. But I'd still like to know if more people are bothered by this.
