However, I believe that a more fundamental need is for RPE to be calculated for each exercise in a workout.
It is very common for different muscle groups to respond differently, and unlike long workouts structured for a single modality (swimming, running, cycling), strength training tolerates the independent computation of RPE for each exercise, allowing for a more appropriate dynamic operation of loads and rest intervals over time.
