Garmin Forerunner 965 Benchmark Run Issues

Hello all,

I have been trying for over a week now to start a garmin coach training plan. I have now run the benchmark run 3 times.

I started one plan, ran the benchmark run and then saw 0 progress in the plan after the run or in the day after the benchmark run. I then was scheduled another benchmark run in the same plan 2 days after my first benchmark run, I ran it, and then had the same experience. A 3rd benchmark run was then scheduled again 2 days after my 2nd.

I then read this forum, quit my existing plan and restarted with a new plan from scratch. The same exact flow happened again (ran the benchmark, nothing, and then 2 days later another benchmark appears). After I finish the run each time, the run event shows up in my connect app in the training plan, but the benchmark run is still scheduled on my watch and in the app (eg. I could in theory run it immidietly again), and my plans are not progressing past it so I am assuming they are not being registered.

I have done the following to troubleshoot:

  1. Restarted my plan
  2. Edited the event type for my run events to be training

I am starting the runs using the garmin coach widget on my watch (there is no Training Calendar app). I am doing the runs indoors via a virtual run as I like using Zwift run and live in a winter climate in the middle of a city so I do not want to run outside. Any help would be welcome as this is extremely annoying and frustrating, part of the reason I purchased this watch was for the personalized plans and this seems like a very easy software fix for an expensive watch.
