I bough a Zenfone 10 and can't pair my Edge 1030 Plus with it. With my previous Samsung s10e phone there was never any problem.
Details
- Edge 1030 Plus, Software Version 6.75
- New ASUS Zenfone 10 phone, Android 14 (34.1004.0204.201)
- Garmin Connect ver. 5.7.1, app has all permissions
- There are no "power saving" modes active on the phone, it connects flawlessly to several other BT devices (3 different earphones, JBL speaker), which at the moment are turned off.
Process
- No other Bluetooth device is active at the moment.
- My Edge 1030 is removed from my old phone's Garmin Connect and from BT in general, the old phone's BT is off. And vice-versa, the Samsung phone is removed from the Edge device.
- I start the pairing process in the GC mobile app while my Garmin Edge is in Phone Setup (with the little dot animation showing the "connection").
- I tap "Start" in GC and choose (BT)Edge 1030 plus from the list.
- A pop-up shows on my phone asking to "Allow Connect to access (BT)Edge 1030 Plus? -> I choose "Allow"
- I see a screen with "Connecting your Edge 1030 Plus" and progress bar, which never progresses more than the tiny bit that it starts with.
- After about 1 minute I see "Pairing failed. Setup was not successful".
- Retry doesn't help.
What I tried so far
- Restarting both phone and edge.
- Reinstalling Garmin Connect mobile app.
- Toggling BT on both, removing Edge from phone's BT list several times.
- I even went back to the Samsung s10e to try pairing again for a test - it worked fine, afterwards I removed all connection to that old phone once more.
