My Garmin keeps disconnecting from my phone in close range? Since I did the requested update on my watch?

I did a requested/suggested update on my Venu 2 Plus.  The last two days my watch keep on disconnecting and connecting from my phone even during close range?

  • Is the issue that you have to go back and pair the watch each time or is it that the disconnect/connect alerts on your watch have become excessive?

    To disable the alerts, open the app, go to More > Settings > Garmin Devices > Venu 2 Plus > Notifications & Alerts > System Alerts > toggle off Phone Connection Alerts.

    Was the update to your watch version 19.05 from May 2024? Venu 2 Plus Software Update - 19.05 

  • I have the same issue with Vivoactive 5, I have also done a soft reset of the watch and reinstalled the Connect software, adjusted permissions and battery optimization on Android but to no avail, the phone is next to me but i get constantly a disconnection and after a few seconds up to some minutes the watch connects to the phone again. Of course I can disable the notification, but then what's the point of this functionality? I want to get notified if I leave the phone somewhere... I did not have this issue with another cheap watch. And I tested it on two different phones, same result.

    ps: not only have I disabled Connect app updates, I won't update my Forerunner either (no offence to Garmin but I have seen other suppliers brick devices to be told buy a new one).

  • Thanks for the suggestion. In my case the root cause seems to be that the Watch/Connect Software is not working properly on Huawei phones, I should have checked the compatibility list beforehand...On Xiaomi it is more stable.
