Indoor walk activity for Descent Mk2i

I use the WALK activity on my watch (Descent Mk2i) to record the steps, complete the challenges and keep the streak (my record so far is 40 days streak). When I can’t go outside due to weather or anything else, how can I keep logging the WALK activity indoor? I did some digging here on the forum and realized that the TREADMILL activity will not count as a WALK. I don’t want to break the streak and want this indoor activity to count as a regular WALK activity for the challenges. What can I do, as there is no INDOOR WALK activity available?

    1. Steps are counted even if you do not record any activity, so it is not necessary if you do it just for that purpose
    2. You can use Walk even indoors. You can (though do not have to) disable the GPS in the Walk activity profile (better told you can create a copy of the Walk, and disable the GPS in the copy only. Only necessary if you want to save some battery power, otherwise the standard Walk activity works indoors fine.
    3. If you use Treadmill, you can change the activity type to Walk in Garmin Connect, and the Walk activity will be counted for the Walk challenges after the change
  • I made a copy of the Walk activity, renamed to Indoor Walk and disabled GPS. This way it calculates the distance based on steps and the stride length set in Garmin connect. (When I use Walk with GPS enabled then it calculates much less distance than I actually do)

  • Thanks for the answer! Now I need to figure out how to do as you told (create a copy and disable the GPS). I’ll look for this here in the forum. Thank you!

  • Tks! I’ll look for how to create this copy and will do the same. Thank you!

Select the Walk activity, long-press the Up / Menu button (middle left), and scroll to Copy Activity
