Which challenge? Weekly step challenge?
In the weeks Challenge and also in the self-created
What is your privacy setting for Steps when you look into your Garmin Connect profile at https://connect.garmin.com/modern/settings/privacySettings ?
This was set for friends. Now I have changed it to all, but it still does not synchronize.
In fact for the steps in Connection Challenges, the steps privacy level should not matter, and the steps should be visible to others even if your privacy does not allow it - it is documented here: Garmin Connect Privacy Settings for Connection Challenges | Garmin Customer Support. The privacy level would have an impact on Connection and Group leaderboards for steps, and on Group Challenges, but your steps should be visible on the leaderboard of the Weekly Steps auto-challenge with random participants too.
Could you post a screenshot of the leaderboard of the auto-challenge at https://connect.garmin.com/modern/auto-challenge illustrating the problem?
It looks like you last successfully synced your watch with Garmin Connect three years ago:
The most likely reason is that you have the device associated with more than a single Garmin Connect account. I recommend to Remove and Add a Device From the Garmin Connect App | Garmin Customer Support, then log a few minutes of steps, sync, and see whether it helped. It won't load the lost data though, it helps only from now on. If it does not help, then have a look at the Troubleshooting guide for (some) data missing after syncing for more tips.
Thank you very much for your help. I have only installed it on my Galaxy S9. Could the phone be the problem?
Since I'm having problems now, I've installed it on another device to test if it works.
Could the phone be the problem?
No. Respectively only if you cannot sync the watch at all since three years, but I guess you would already notice that.
I've installed it on another device to test if it works.
That's not sure to help. Rather follow the instructions from my previous post.
I have removed the clock from the app and reinstalled it. Now it works again.
Thank you very much for your help.
