Body Battery Diagram on Garmin Connect App

The following link provides a picture of the body battery diagram on the new Garmin connect app:

I am specifically interested in the diagram in the middle, near the bottom, as it displays temporal changes in HRV as well. In the book "the pulse cure", a Norwegian doctor goes into great detail about how to use such diagrams in order to de-stress and optimize one's day.

Will any Garmin device capable of calculating a body battery score (such as the vivosmart 5) deliver such diagrams when connected to the Garmin connect app, or only the more expensive ones with continuous HRV tracking, such as Epic or Fenix?

Thanks for all replies

  • Body Battery is based on HRV, hence yes, every device supporting BB will show also the Stress (orange) and Rest (blue) bars on the graph. Beside that, there is also a separate screen for Stress, and for the Sleep data, including the Overnight HRV option, which gives you absolute HRV values in ms (unlike the Stress data showing value 5-100, relative to the calibrated baseline).

  • Thanks, this will save me some money.

Now I only have to decide whether to buy the vivosmart 5 right away, or wait a little and hope for the release of its successor. On the web, I have found no definite info whether a vivosmart 6 is even planned. Hmm...

Because Garmin is a publicly traded company (GRMN), they don't disclose future plans. This is in compliance with SEC regulations. New hardware is announced in their official press releases - Garmin Newsroom - Corporate Press Releases. Any information on the forums would be merely speculation and rumor. However, seems the band style watch may be winding down in release frequency.
