Garmin Connect not retrieving courses from Drive.

Hi everyone.

When trying to save an Ordnance Survey route from Drive into Garmin Connect, I now get the message "Course not available, we're having trouble retrieving a course".

This has just started happening on my Lenovo M11, android 14. It's been fine up until now.It also now happens on both of my android 14 Pixel phones.

I did recently change a few of my 'security & privacy' settings on my Lenovo.

Any help will be massively appreciated. Thanks.

  • I tried it both with iPhone and with Android. Works on both sides, even without renaming. Are you sure you uploaded the concerned file that did not work? I still cannot access your very first link, so cannot test anything else than the file from the last link.

  • Yes, that's what is driving me mad, I've never had to add .gpx onto the end or even give it a name before now.

It just worked and I renamed it in GC.

Since cancelling my OS premium subscription two weeks ago (it's still valid until next year) I've not been able to upload a route onto GC.

    Cheers.

  • Yes, any file that I posted a link to doesn't work for me as I've just created them since this problem.

I'll create another route from scratch right now and post it.

    Cheers.

  • Sorry, my mistake, the error comes only when you attempt to save the course, not during the import. I can reproduce it  now. Will check the file in a moment.

  • I can import and save it on an iPhone, but saving on Android indeed fails. I recommend reporting it to the Product Support through their website at https://support.garmin.com. Use the Phone or Chat options for an instant response. Email exchanges usually take a few days. In the meantime you can try installing an older version of the GC app from apkmirror.com and see whether it helps.

  • Thanks very much for your help. I emailed the problem to Garmin Support last week but haven't had a reply yet.

Tomorrow I'll use the phone method.

Tomorrow I'll dig out my old iPad and try it on there, then I'll try an older Android version (mine is 5.5) of GC from apkmirror.com like you suggest.

    Many thanks.

  • I'm getting the same when exporting from the OS app, then importing into connect. It's not a problem with Google drive because the issue is the same if the file is local on the phone.  This used to work so I suspect it's a bug.  Only OS courses are affected. Other GPX editors don't have this error.

  • Hi.

Thanks for your information. Moments ago I dug out my iOS 12.5 iPad and, sure enough as with Trux last night, the route went straight into GC (it goes direct and doesn't require Drive as a middleman) without a problem.

Still not working on three different Android 14 devices that previously did.

  • Hi everyone.

I've just received this email from Garmin Support and it seems that we are not alone ...

"Thank you for contacting Garmin - and apologies for the delay in responding, we're currently working through an email backlog so responses will be delayed. We're sorry to hear about this issue!

We have been getting similar reports of this, and there's an active ongoing investigation we'll add you to so you can receive updates when we have them - for us to do this, please provide the following:

Please confirm your phone model and operating system version:
    A screenshot of the error
Garmin Connect App logs: Sending App Logs From the Garmin Connect App to Garmin Product Support - when you're prompted for a code, please use this one --> JTENC
A copy of the .gpx file for the course in question attached in a reply to this email
Lastly, if you try and upload the course via Garmin Connect website, do you get the same error or not? If yes, could you include a screenshot of any errors in the web version as well, please?
Instructions here: Importing a Third-Party Course into Garmin Connect".

I haven't acted on it yet but I'll read it properly tomorrow and give it a go.

    Cheers.
