My Instinct 1 tactical has recently stopped notifying me of phone calls.

I get every single other notification, including the notification for the voicemail from the call I just missed, but not for the call itself. I have enabled all notifications for all apps, including phone, but nothing seems to work. Both the connect app and my phone show notifications for calls are on and should be going to the watch. My phone is always on silent at work so I relied on my watch to tell me when I got a call. The connect app is version 5.4. 1 and the watch is version 19.10. My phone has android 14.

  • As the first debugging step, I would install an older version of the app from apkmirror.com, and disable auto-updates of the app in the Play Store, to see whether the app is not the cause. If it does not help, then some Android settings (permissions, battery optimizing) might be the reason. The watch self is not very likely to be the culprit, but as the last resort, you can hard-reset the watch - sync, then press the Light button for some 30s till it completely shuts down (hold the button through the emergency alert, if it comes), wait little bit, and then restart. No worry, no data or settings will be lost with it. [more details], and if still no change, then the master reset to factory defaults (you'll have to configure the watch anew).

  • I have downloaded version 4.75 of connect from February of this year, when notifications still worked. It has access to everything, zero restrictions on battery, data, or permissions. I uninstalled the current app prior to the new download, ensuring to delete all data from the current version. I hard reset, unpaired, re-paired, then reset the watch again. Smart notifications and alerts are both on, with access to phone, contacts, messages, etc. I continue to get every notification, except an incoming phone call. I'm at a loss. The phone app is the standard phone app from Samsung. This is boyond frustrating as my phone must be on silent for work, mostly out of site, but I still need to be able to answer it.

  • Test it with another phone, preferably of a different brand, to exclude or confirm the phone as the suspect. Turn off Bluetooth on your standard phone while testing with another one - the watch can connect reliably just to one device at a time.

  • Well, I didn't have another phone to try, but a factory reset of the watch solved my problem.

    Thank you!
