HRV/stress measurement. Is there any way to turn it off?

I want to turn off the stress measurement, particularly during sleep.  I find this feature confusing and not actionable.  I do not believe it is really a measure of actual stress.  I don't understand how I can be stressed and still be asleep.  The fact that I keep getting this stress measurement during sleep makes me not like the Vivosmart.

  • I don't understand how I can be stressed and still be asleep.

Of course you can, but if you want to disable it, then you have a few options:

    • Remove the Stress glance from the watch and from the app, or simply do not look at them
    • Disable the wrist HR sensor at night, by enabling the Battery Saver during sleep (besides the Stress, also the HR, Sleep Analysis, Body Battery, Training Readiness and Training Status, Resting HR, Calories, and other metrics will be influenced, though)
    • Do not wear the watch at nigh (with the same consequences as above)

Otherwise I recommend reading the following article, which may help you understand how the Stress measuring works.

  • Regarding how you can be stressed while asleep: the watch tries to measure physiological stress, not mental stress (although they can affect each other). So if your body is tired after exercising a lot, it will be under physiological stress while you sleep (and the body recovers). The same applies if you are ill.

  • Thanks for the info. It appears that I can't turn it off without turning off other features I want, such as heart rate. I have hidden the "stress" from the home page, but can't hide it on the sleep feature.  You have confirmed what I thought and that is helpful.  I will just have to learn to ignore it.  I had already read the article before asking the question.

  • Thanks to both of you.
