Bug: Connect App stops syncing 0-byte .FIT on device

Connect App on Android stops syncing when the .FIT file with a 0-byte length is present on the device. In my case, the device is Fenix 5.

.FIT of 0 length typically results from a crashed activity app. It often happens with the Bike App when the map is loaded with the workout. Recently the Strength App crashed also leaving 0 length .FIT

Repro:

  • Create a corrupted 0-byte .FIT
  • Upload it with the Windows Explorer on the device
  • Try to sync with the Connect App

Versions:

  • Connect App for Android v5.3.1
  • Fenix 5 Firmware v25.00

Workaround:

  • Connect the device to the PC
  • Delete corrupted .FIT with the Windows Explorer
  • Resync with the Connect App
