Step Counter in Garmin Connect app

Dear Garmin!  It’s time you updated and fixed your app to track our steps from our phone, if and when we don’t or can’t wear our fitness tracker watch devices.

i bought your Fénix 7x Sapphire Solar fitness watch. I paid $900 for it.  I expect it to do everything under the sun and it almost does except 1 thing…. If I forget to wear it, if I cannot wear it, if I choose to wear one of my other 12 watches, the. My steps are not counted in hour far in connect app.  And then, I don’t show any progress against my challenges that you so painstaking created for us to use as incentives to stay healthy.

My apple phone tracks my steps.  It tracks and dumps those steps into the Apple health app.  Your garmin connect app should simply look for the connected device to report the number of steps achieved this day and not f that’s not available to pull the number of steps from the phone .  It’s that easy.  Why haven’t you added that functionality?  There may be days where I don’t wear my fitness watch. I’m a watch aficionado!  I love number watches.  And I love fitness.  But sometimes I don’t want to wear my fitness watch .  And then I don’t get credit for the steps I’ve completed.  Even though they are right here on the iPhone I. The Apple health app.  This is insane.

And while we can record an activity, we can’t even record a simple addition of steps into the Garmin app.   I can look right at the stupid garmin steps tab and there it is saying zero  ZERO! Because I wasn’t wearing my watch today but I walked 5 miles and 10,000 steps. And it’s in the Apple health and it’s in my fitness pal but it’s not even in the garmin connect app.   That is the lamest omission ever.  Fix your app and get it up to date for 2024.  People have been complaining about this for years .  There is no excuse .

  • I would not hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

Garmin sells watches not phones. So if you want step counts you must wear their watch... Simple. Or move to another brand like a friend of mine did recently, of course now he complains that he doesn't like the activities on the other watch brand. Decide what is really important.

  • Sittings in the middle of a 8hour training session and hava less than 1% left on the 245 I'm using. Step counter as well as qi charging would be HIGHLY appreciated
