Garmin connect seems to be draining phone battery alarming quick!

I am new to Garmin, but within two weeks on having the garmin connect app on my phone, my average battery life has gone from 5-6 days to one day. I can get 2 days battery life if I hard close the app after I open it, but any advice on this would be appreciated as it is driving me crazy.

  • 5-6 days is a lot. Which phone is that? Seems to have some super aggressive battery saving. The connect app is designed to constantly run in the background. Could be that the battery saver on the phone is constantly killing the app and it is automatically starting again in an endless loop.

Apart from that, clearing the app cache in android app settings might help.

  • I am not a heavy users of my phone (Samsung galaxy S22) - hence why I don't need to charge it that often, also I just have it on normal battery saving mode. I have clear the cache so lets see what happens - thank you for the advice.

  • Maybe you can try disabling Bluetooth (if it's not used for other things) and just enable it at the end of the day, sync , then disable.

It's also possible you don't even need to touch the bluetooth, just "kill" Garmin connect app. I haven't tried this with GC, but works with another app that connects via Bluetooth to a smart water bottle (though there the bottle's battery was draining too fast). It might need some tweaking of app permissions to make it effective.

Another thing you can try is to disable location permission of the GC app. If your watch has gps it's not really needed.
