So I have had an Epix Gen2 for a while, and have used it for riding outside without any obvious issues, I have now got a Tacx Flow indoor trainer, and have got differences in the data when I record a ride using both my watch in the indoor cycling mode and the Tacx app. As I understand/assume, the trainer gives data to the Tacx app and watch simultaneously as it connects to both, and I set the watch to broadcast heart rate when doing indoor cycling, so the Tacx app shows it connected as a HR sensor. Though I get different results on some of the stats from the two rides on the recorded activity. I have done a movie type ride and a workout ride in the app to control the trainer.
The movie type ride along a specific route, gives me different distance, speed data, power data, virtually the same heart rate, calories, and cadence data. There are small difference in time of a few seconds when turning things each on/off, though i don't think that would account for the speed and distance, especially the margin and I'm not pedalling.
For example the Tacx app shows the ride as 15.57km, average speed 18.1km/h, 121W over 51:39 minutes.
My watch indoor cycling recorded length of 13.83km, average speed 15.9km/h, 108W over 52:07 minutes.
I did a power type ride too, and thats worse !
Tacx app, 7.10km, average speed 20.3km/h, 146W over 20:57 minutes.
Watch, 3.78km, average speed 11.3km/h, 104w over 20:05 minutes.
So I guess the question is if they are both taking the same data from the trainer and processing it differently have I got some settings wrong somewhere ? Does anyone know if this is likely something I have wrong in the setup or if this is a fault/flaw. I haven't found anything to configure beyond calibrating the trainer, and setting the bike type in the Tacx app. Nothing for example for the wheel size ?
Also bonus question, I assume if I have both of the rides saved in my connect profile that is calculating training status/load as though I have done two separate rides ? IE I've done more training than I actually have, and its not clever enough to realise that I haven't done two different rides at the same time.
