Wrong calories addition with 2 Garmin devices after one training.

Hello everyone,

I have an Epix2 and an Edge 1040Solar. I jog a lot and cycle a lot. My EPIX2 is the primary smartwatch and the 1040 is the primary training device. Now the following happens after a bike ride:

The data is sent to Garmin via the Android Connect app. The tour is also in the overview. The tour data can be viewed in the Connect app.

The time is also added to the “intensity minutes”. The equipment is displayed. But the calories (1345kcal) are not counted and are not displayed in the calorie overview and are not included. You will then see 0 Active kcal, 321 Additional Calories together “321Active Calories”.

Why is the value missing???

Even though the activity has been transferred to the app and is displayed there? If I now switch from the Garmin app via the Garmin app to MyFitnesssPal, the calories are displayed correctly there!!

There the activity from Garmin to MFP App was correctly transferred! (both apps are connected)

But the Garmin Connect app doesn't show them. This doesn't just happen once, unfortunately it happens very often. :-(

Regards
Timo
  • Active Calories come only from the Primary Wearable Device, as long as it is worn. Next time, try removing the Epix 2 from your wrist, or disabling the WHR sensor, and see whether it helps.

Hi und thanks for your ideas!

I have disable WHR sensor in energy save mode. I will use now energy save mode until i use the Edge 1040 for tracking the heart rate by HRM Belt. (I use for activities only HRM Belt) the WHR from the EPIX is only for the the tome of non activities.

  • Also have this issue, its crazy that I have to remove Fenix 7 from wrist to get correct values as all data present but not being tallied.

Would making 1040 primary fix this? as when not in use I'm assuming it would default back to Fenix.

Its also more complex than this as had wife record heart rate on fenix connected to her edge, Her connect calorie summary was 1600 for the day, mine was 5000, sofa day! The 1040 data was correct and in fit file but seems to have subtracted all calorie burn out off watches summery.

  • Would making 1040 primary fix this?

You cannot. Only the wearable (watch) can be the Primary Wearable Device.

If she has older devices, then it is well possible. The behavior changed with the last generation of watches and head units, with the Unified Training Status support.

  • I have the same units and am experiencing the same problem with calories. A look back at a previous ride shows calories were accounted for.

  • During a call to Garmin support, I was informed that I should not wear my watch while using the Edge 1040 if I wanted the calorie count to be accurately tracked in Garmin Connect.

The representative emphasized that this was the current limitation and that there was no immediate solution available.

  • Yesterday I was on a bike. And used the Edge 1040. I have now set the EPIX2 as my primary sports device and smart watch. But the Edge deleted my running data from “current load”. All of my runs are no longer  included in the statistics. Only the bike rides on Tuesdays. I went running on Thursday and Friday. This is completely missing from the statistics. Such a crap!
