Cumulative steps

Hi,

Does anyone know how to get cumulative steps when on a walking work out? Ideally I'd like to be able to see how many steps I've done for the day (cumulative step count) for the day alongside my steps for that workout. I haven't figured out a way of doing it properly on the data screens.

  • You did not tell which watch model you have, but on most models, the daily steps are available among the built-in data fields. As for the steps done during the activity, you can install a Connect IQ app. There are couple of them in the store (including my own one - the TxActivitySteps)

  • Thanks very much!

    Sorry I forgot to put model - it's a Forerunner 265.

The 'walk indoor' app shows me the steps done during the activity, but I can't find any option on data screens to show me the daily steps without pausing or ending the workout to then go and see it. Am I missing something on the data fields?

Sorry I'm new to Garmin watches - loving it though!

You can always hit the Back button to return to the main watchface, and you can also scroll to any glances and widgets (including the Steps glance or widget)m and then come back to the activity. No need to pause or end the activity for that.

If the Back button is used as the Lap key, then you can assign a hot key to another key combination, for the same purpose.

  • Hi thanks for the quick response. Yeah the back key is used as the lap key! How would I go about doing what you have mentioned there?

  • Check out the menu Hot Keys in the settings of your watch.

  • Sorted. Thank you so much!
