Thanks for the suggestions, I've tried all of these with no success.
I have also figured out that the intensity minutes are not calculating correctly.
For example the activity only shows vigorous for 10 min and yet heart rate zone 4 for the activity was 15 min. No moderate or zone 3 is recorded, even though the activity shows 25 min was spent in zone 3.
It does not seem to be a battery problem on the heart rate monitor as there are no breaks or drops in heart rate shown on the Charts. Battery also shows as "OK" in the app under sensors.
Another post somewhere here suggest that because I'm using the watch only for activities with the HRM, the watch automatically shows resting heart rate as Zero (resting HR is apparently key for Intensity minutes calculation). Manual capturing of heart rate in the watch under settings is therefore required. I will test this as well.
This has never been a problem before, so is this not software upgrade related?

By default, unless you changed the settings, Intensity Minutes are not based on HR Zones. The threshold is based on the Resting Heart Rate, resp. certain percentage of it (roughly 150%). Additionally, on some devices, the HR must stay above that threshold for more than 10 continuous minutes, in order to get accounted.
Either change the IM settings, or set up the Resting HR manually, and disable the autodetection.

Hi, it seems the manual adjustment to resting HR on the watch did the trick
