Always online service madness?

If I restrict internet access for the Garmin Connect app, or otherwise don't have access to the internet, my watch (vivomove Style) will disconnect from my phone.

Bluetooth is still on... the channel between phone and watch is untouched. A missing connection to Garmin servers shouldn't stop me from using music controls?

Is this the same for other users?

It works for me. I put the phone in flight mode and can control phone from my watch to play music.

If I force stop Garmin Connect on my phone I get message "Start music on phone" when I try to control music, so the app must be running in the background for the controls to work, but internet is not needed unless your music app requires that.
