Garmin Connect App on Android uses way to much Battery

Since a couple of days - might be related to the 5.0 update - Connect App is eating up my battery in the background. It's always on #1 or #2 for battery usage with almost no screen time but massive background usage.

Is it just me?

Not sure whether just you, but since there is no surge of complaints here on the forum, it does not seem to be a common general issue. I recommend restarting both the phone and the watch, connecting the watch over the USB cable to a computer with Garmin Express, and checking for updates with it. Some pending updates or downloads may significantly increase the battery consumption both on the phone as well as of the watch.

  • Thanks. I'll try this.

Another strange thing, though most likely not related: yesterday I could not enable the touchscreen. It just showed the orange "touchscreen on" circle, but it didn't work. I had to restart the watch to fix this.

Since I'm on beta software (both watch and smartphone), the issue might be resolved with on of the next updates.

The OP speaks about the phone battery, but it looks like you are referring to the battery of the watch. In that case, I recommend calibrating the battery, as advised in the Troubleshooting guide for high battery drain
