REQUEST: Ability to type in ascent value instead of scrolling through a number menu when editing an activity in the app

I often workout on a treadmill at incline. At the end of the workout I edit the activity in the app to add the correct ascent. It's very annoying and takes a long time to have to scroll through the numerical menu in the app to reach the correct number. It's very frustrating when trying to enter a 1,800 feet ascent slowly scrolling and even worse when my finger accidentally touches outside the scrolling menu and I end up back at 1! I know the value can be typed in from a computer on the Garmin Connect website (which is what I end up doing) but it's much easier to be able to edit the activity immediately rather than having to write down the number of feet I ascended in elevation then entering it later when at home. Please remove the scrolling number menu and add the ability to simply type in the value. It would be greatly appreciated.  Slight smile

  • Please remove the scrolling number menu and add the ability to simply type in the value.

It is already possible. Simply tap the number, and enter it with the virtual keyboard.

  • Thank you for your reply Trux. I appreciate you bringing that to my attention. I tried tapping on the number and for some reason the keyboard won't pop up. It's most likely just a glitch on my end with my phone settings (my phone has a teeny tiny screen) and not a Garmin Connect app issue. I'll try making some display adjustments. Thank you for your help!

  • This tripped me us as well. It seems like kind of an odd UI design choice to use this scroller control for this kind of data. Unless you're total ascent is literally "1" it would take more key presses to use the scroll buttons than it would to just enter the value. It seems like the virtual keyboard should just pop up by default when you click to edit the field. This pretty much goes for all of the data fields you can edit on an activity - calories, distance, etc. Hopefully Garmin monitors the forums for feedback like this...
