New Garmin connect mobile updated home page is awful

I cannot believe how bad the new Garmin connect home page is. Why remove the ease of viewing my day with one glance of the app?. Now have to scroll through the page to see all the info that was contained in my day section.  On top of that, the user has no ability to bring back the old display or edit it to something similar. This new update is so annoying I suspect my next smart watch won't be a Garmin.

If this home page stays as is, I will no longer be a Garmin user for ANY of their products.

Update to moderator.   Nothing in my original post was "uncivil".  Why do you keep censoring my comments?

  • What about after this update? Has it had any impact besides the multiple negative feedback left anywhere
Garmin accepts comments from the community? Not saying that the community's voice is insignificant, but has yet to have enough importance for the sector of Garmin that is in charge here to take action.

  • Agree - in the last 12 months as a customer and shareholder it's been great.  But this event with the UI just doesn't make sense.  We've heard nothing about why we should embrace the latest horrible UI change.  Obviously if it was 2 steps back so we could take 10 forward I think everyone in this passionate community could get on board.  But the blaring loud crickets to the overwhelming response from the community kind of smells like either fear or just blatant incompetence. Not sure which is worse...

  • Time will tell I guess.

If you aren't convinced about the future of Garmin just sell your shares (not you personally, but as a general rule).

I don't work for Garmin and have no detailed insights into their operating model. But it is a 4,5 billion USD company with nearly 20.000 employees who operates in various divisions.

A change like the combination of App and Web interface isn't done over night. I'm quite sure that a lot of rescources have worked on this and quite a lot of alignment and decision meetings have been done to get to this point.

I would be very, very suprised if they change back because of a few unhappy customers. Let's face it: no matter what you change, you will never have a 100% acceptance rate.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying that this particular change is good or bad. I personally couldn't care less as I still have everything that I need, but I acknowledge that for some it is a downgrade.

  • If you are thinking that there are just "a few unhappy customers" you are entirely incorrect.  A very tiny percentage of customers bother to visit these forums and even fewer make the effort of posting.  What is useful is to determine the percentage of those that do post that are happy or unhappy and this is an excellent indicator of how the remainder of customers feel, even though they never voice their concerns for whatever their reasons.  How stronly those that voice concerns is also useful, particularly when they go as far as mentioning that they are considering abandoning Garmin despite their previous very lengthy period of loyalty.  Sing all you want about justifying going against the tide but in the end it won't help Garmin in avoiding enormous loss of potential market.  That is, the market they could have had if they had continued to give customers what they want.

These kind of forums tend to attract criticism. Not a lot of people come her to say: all fine, no issues. But anyway, time will tell.

  • Consider how many posts there have been in the several years since the app has been out. Now consider how many posts there are since the update. It's pretty obvious. No noise means things are good. Lots of noise means there's a problem.

  • Now consider how many posts there are since the update.

And consider how many double posts there are from many. The number of posts view is not meaningful. If there are 50 pages of complaints, it doesn't mean that those 50 pages are because each post is a different person. You need to know the number of different people. Not the number of posts.

Lots of noise means there's a problem.

    Not necessarily.

  • Consider how many posts there have been in the several years since the app has been out. Now consider how many posts there are since the update.

You seem to have a comparison. What are the figures?

  • I'm fully aware that there is noise about this change. I would argue (without having any tangible proof or data) that it is really not that significant in the greater scheme. I might be wrong.

One more thing: have a look at the entries in this thread. How many are just saying: I hate this, I dislike it, etc. Not that many who actually give specific examples what exactly it is that they are missing. How should hate or dislike influence a companies decision?

But it is ok that we disagree on this one.
