New Garmin connect mobile updated home page is awful

I cannot believe how bad the new Garmin connect home page is. Why remove the ease of viewing my day with one glance of the app?. Now have to scroll through the page to see all the info that was contained in my day section.  On top of that, the user has no ability to bring back the old display or edit it to something similar. This new update is so annoying I suspect my next smart watch won't be a Garmin.

If this home page stays as is, I will no longer be a Garmin user for ANY of their products.

Update to moderator.   Nothing in my original post was "uncivil".  Why do you keep censoring my comments?

  • I can't agree more yhe new home page sucks

  • Really liked the old format. If it’s not broke don’t fix it! Loved my vivio active 3. Never thought I would spend $1k for a watch but always wanted a fenix 7. Broke down and bought an Epix gen 2 a year ago. Joined a gym in Feb all good. Loved this watch and talked my wife into a venu 3. Connect is now worthless for those who like a list vs fancy worthless boxes or tiles. So how did I get to be a Garmin fan. The connect app rocked. iPhone 5 did not work with apple iPhone 5 so bought Garmin. Now I have a iPhone 15 pro max. Since the update I given up on the Garmin Connect App. It’s like owning a G Shock. I tried the beta obviously they didn’t read concerns as that was not a road they wanted to go. I will keep my Epix for golf and the club sensors as long as they don’t f that up also. Currently I am looking for a new fitness tracker. Sucks cause I only wanted to use one product.

  • I think it is impossible on IoS, but Android have older versions of apps available in their store.  I use an iPad and a Samsung phone, usually synch through the iPad.  Actually the iPad app is just the iPhone app stretched, since Garmin never bothered to make an app used on larger displays (why couldnt they have made a new iPad app and not done this dire UI rework?).  Nowe the IoS app becomes useless. ...and worse as they now 'harmonised' the web app and the mobile app, the web version is pretty rubbish too.  But at least I still have the old UI on the Samsung phone.  I'll probably keep using the old Android app, until Garmin breaks it.

Although I like my Garmin devices, and just bought a watch, I think I'll be moving to another platform eventually since the hardware is really only useful with a good app.

  • I have trouble believing this new user interface is based on customer feedback.   The previous version of the dashboard had all the relevant info I needed on 1 screen, and now I'm a bit lost.   How does Garmin envision the roadmap of this product for their customer base ?  What is the strategy behind it ?   Give the enduser/consumer a voice and let them customize the screens how they want them to.    This should be the #1 rule in interface design.

  • I do not like it either, but as a specific technical issue, it takes a really really long time to load/update. Literally several minutes to load whereas before it was updated within 15-20 seconds at most.

  • In one fell swoop Garmin has managed to join New Coke and Bud Light on the list of dumb moves.

  • I hadn't realized how different the app is on an android vs an apple until I asked my son to load it on his android phone and tested it out, I have an Apple 14pro. I still think the new connect is a downgrade from the previous format look of the app is quite significant from android to iOS.The tiles are so much smaller in the android version, most noticeably in the "At a Glance" section - almost half the size, this is ridiculous. On my phone I can't even see 4 full tiles in that section without scrolling, he could see 6+. Garmin you have not only failed in this update overall but you have really failed your iOS users.

  • I was in the beta program prior to the launch. I got used to it early. After the update I was not happy with the performance. It slowed down buffering forever. I agreed with the frustration. But now it's uo and fast again. Actually really like the layout, bigger icons. Easy to use.

Change is difficult but now it's actually pretty decent.
