Treadmill walks not counting towards daily miles

Log the walks with your device, do not enter them manually. Manual activities do not count towards chalenges and badges. Use the standard Walk activity profile. It works indoor too. If it logs wrong distance, edit it - that's accepted.

That's exactly what I'm doing.  I use my watch to log the activity,  then update the distance once completed. 

That's the Steps Distance - this one is unrelated to any activities. It is simply the number of steps recorded multiplied by the Custom Stride Length in your settings. So the only way to adjust it, is by adjusting the global custom stride length. Though I think it does not work retroactively. The change will probably only impact the steps done thereafter (not sure 100%, but I'd bet it will be so)

I've updated my stride length after some long outdoor walks. I walked 5 miles the other day for about 19k steps, the 6962 steps that were counted is far more than 0.8 miles.

As I wrote, the change of the Custom Stride Length will only impact the daily Steps Distance for days after the change. It does not work retroactively. Can you post a screenshot of Custom Stride Length setting that is currently on the watch?

I had already adjusted it prior to the 22nd. This is what it shows. 

I just walked 1.88 mi using my desk,  and my total mileage shows 0.1 miles and 1132 steps, both inaccurate and still doesn't equivocate.
