iFit to Garmin bluetooth pairing not working

Just purchased an iFit treadmill and would like to pair it with my Garmin 245, mostly to use my HR data and avoid buying an external HR monitor that iFit wants me to buy. However when I try to search and pair from my Garmin or my iFit, neither can see the other one. What am I doing wrong? Or is this even possible?

Did you enable HR Broadcasting on your Forerunner 245? I am not familiar with your particular model, but on my watch it is in the Controls menu. If not that case on yours, search the user manual of your watch for HR Broadcasting.

Thanks for your help! I really appreciate it. I thought my HR broadcasting was on since HR is always displayed on my watch. Garmin instructions are a bit brief on setting that up. For me, I had to create a heart rate widget. After I did that, you must turn on the broadcasting. Once done, the iFit immediately found the Garmin watch and allowed pairing. Hopefully iFit reads and processes the data properly. I'll find out soon.
