Bluetooth connection issues

Ever since getting my S24 Ultra I have been having big time issues with my venu 2 plus. 

Latest firmware on watch, latest Connect app version. At first, connected fine, but anytime it lost connection from turning airplane mode on, or walking too far from my phone, it would never reconnect and I would have to pair it again. Pain in the butt, but at least it connected. Now after the latest phone software update, I tried connecting it again after it failed to autor-econnect, and now it won't even connect at all. on the setup screen it just keeps cycling through trying to enter the pin displayed on the watch, and failing, asking to pair again and giving a new code. 

Watch is practically useless now as I can't connect it to my phone to have any data sync over. 

Things I have tried:
Reinstalling connect on my phone.
completely resetting watch.
doing both at the same time, and doing one, then the other. 


Any ideas?
