About the new Beta Interface...

I have been using the new Beta UI for a bit now, and I must say, I hate it.

Here are my thoughts, and I am wondering if others feel the same or differently.

1. In Focus: I don't see the point of this. It basically shows a taller slideshow container with a maximum of 5 items. I don't see any additional information than wat was available on the tiles before, but now the information for 4 out of the 5 items is hidden, requiring me to scroll to see it. Why hide the same data that was available at a glance before, and make me scroll to see it?

2. At a Glance: This is now limited to 8 items. It requires me to click on See All to see the rest of my data. Why?

It makes no sense, since if I didn't want to see an item before, I could just uncheck it and hide it.

The vertical tiles are fine, but the rest feels more like someone new came in and wants to change things, for the sake of change. But it is not a good change, and it will impact my decision to stick with Garmin in the future.

Having said all that about the poor usability, I should complement the design itself, which is a nice refresh.

  • I hate it!!! I wish they would put it back or make it so I can add different at a glance things to the screen. It won't let me switch them. I don't care about body battery or sleep because I don't wear my watch at night. But with those removed I can't add the ones I do care about to the screen.

I was a beta tester, I tried it out, I gave my feed back, and then went back to the old one. But they didn't fix this issue and pushed it through.

    Do better Garmin!!!

  • I also hate how I have to click onto things to see information like heart rate during a workout, where I used to just see it on home. I really really hate it! Please please please put it back!!!!

  •  how about some reaction from you? Yesterday you posted the info about the new update with no possibility to comment on it. Why? Too scared of the overwhelming negative reactions? Because, so far, I didn´t see any positive. I gave so much feedback while testing the beta yet none of it has been implemented.

All of the comments here are negative - and all of them are pointing out valid reasons WHY the new update is so unbelievably bad, naming all the funcionalities that got lost and why the design choices just don´t make sense. How about an official statement? Do you guys even read this??

I am already checking other options because if it stays like this, I´m done with Garmin. I simply refuse the limit of 8 tiles, limit of 8 stats in the 7-days overview, Focus that is completely useless if i can have the same in glances (oh wait, I can't because you force me to have just 8), unneccessary scrolling left-right, up-down and then having to open new page because..... well... you limit the glances to 8.... everything takes more clicks to get to and it´s just a mess.

  • I am very disappointed in the new app.  Before everything was right there, now the so called "cards" sections take up so much space with a lot of wasted black space.    I haven't found a way to make each section smaller.  Look at all the dead black space in the cards, that is the problem.

  • Agreed. Rollback to previus home page!

  • After using garmin connect for many years and seeing the interface evolve into something really attractive and informative, this new design leaves me feeling frustrated, annoyed and disappointed. There are already many comments here describing the various problems so no need to go through them all again but I note that since the beta it seems like no improvements at all were made until the release version.

The interface is sparse, clunky, unintuitive, unattractive and distinctly amateur. The lack of customisation options makes it even worse. I hope they improve it with the urgency it needs.

  • You can't on the phone app anymore if you install latest update.... You have to downgrade to get old version back(phone only web is garmins side)..

  • How do you downgrade the mobile app?

  • uninstall and install previous(have provide a link to it in one of the threads btw)
