ECG availability timeline for UK and EU markets.

Was about to buy an Epix Pro Gen 2 because it offers ECG.  Initially wanted the Freebie 7x Pro but it has no ECG functionality.

The Epix Pro ECG app does not support wearers outside the UK.  Garmin says they are going to expand coverage.  Non committal.  But we are expected to spend a shed loadb of money on a promise.

When is Garmin going to release ECG for UK and EU markets?

Why would anyone buy a watch that is not supported functionally by the manufacturer for all the features they use to market and sell the product?

Cheers

Only Garmin will know as soon as the authority of the respective country completes the certification process and approves their products. And Garmin, as a publicly traded corporation, can only publish this kind of information through public news releases, not on forums. I recommend watching the Newsroom on their website. In the moment they know the date, and decide to publish it, it will be posted there: https://www.garmin.com/en-US/newsroom/?s=ecg

Because it is an excellent watch, that they can use even without ECG, perhaps? Or they can wait a few weeks or months till the certification process in their region is completed? Or because they are able to register the watch in one of the countries, where the feature is already supported? I guess everyone has different reasons for buying the respective watch.

  • I got fed up of waiting and "radio silence" so I bought a Polar. If you want ECG functionality I recommend you do the same. It was not a mistake: Polar are comparative in price, at least as good functionally and their ECG works in UK and EU. A personal choice; I did a lot of research and I would never have looked away from Garmin, but I do not regret it.
