Venu Sq message saying low memory

I have an issue with my venu square watch. No matter how many times you sync it with Garmin connect, it keeps popping up a message that says "memory low. Upload to Garmin connect".

Nothing that addresses this found in the support files or in the forums.

How can I fix this?

  • Thank you . Led me in the general direction where I eventually found the answer. Garmin has a terrible set of manual help files. Nothing in it. Discusses the phrase low memory. Searching the manual for the words. Low memory brings up 91 results of which one was eventually helpful, but it was under deleting personal records. Very difficult to find if you're searching for low memory.

For for the venu square, that info is here

  • it was under deleting personal records

I am sorry, but that's completely wrong. The file holding personal records is just a few hundreds of bytes big. In my case, it has exactly 915 bytes, at most users it will be even less.

And, BTW, only very few people want to delete their Personal Records. Me definitely not - I worked hard to get them, and see no reason for deleting them.

In contrary, the activity folder containing the entire activity history (if it was never deleted), contains potentially hundreds or even thousands of activity files, and each of them has in average hundreds of kilobytes. It means the entire history may contain many tens of megabytes of data. At active users never deleting any activities, it can be even much more. That means 4 to 6 orders of magnitude more data than the personal records.

  • I'm sorry but that was 100% right. Likely because I deleted all the personal history files from the watch first (which you said are tiny) there were no files (0, nothing, nada, zilch) in the Activity folder when I accessed the device through the PC.  Not sure why you would say that was wrong??

Elsewhere I read the personal records remain in Garmin connect, they are just deleted from the device itself.

  • In that case you did not delete the History of Personal Records, but the History of Activities, which is exactly what the article posted by describes.
