How do I download from HRM Pro Plus to connect app?

I have the HRM Pro Plus synced to Android Connect app - how do I download the data from the latest workout?

  • You cannot. You can download 24/7 coarse HR & steps & calories from the HRM Pro(+) to your phone, but not second-to-second activity data (that has to be done through a Garmin watch). And if you wore the watch while doing the workout (but didn't start an activity, or you watch was not paired with the HRM Pro(+)), then your watch's readings have priority over HRM Pro(+) 24/7 readings, when Physio TrueUp combines the values.

  • Thanks Bitti. Understood about the need for the watch, wasn't wearing one at the time. How do I download then the HR details etc after a workout to the connect App?

It is described here: How Does the Store and Forward Feature on My Heart Rate Strap Work? | Garmin Customer Support

  • This refers to download to the watch - can you download to the Connect app?

  • No. Respectively, once you download it to the watch, and sync the watch, it will be on the Connect app too.

  • But as I wrote, you can still sync the HRM Pro with your phone, which downloads (if you want to use that term) "activity tracking data" (similar to watches' 24/7 data): support.garmin.com/.../

  • I believe the user wants to download the HR (and possibly other) data of the concerned activity (1s samples), not the all-day data (2 min samples). And for that the activity must be started on the watch (or on the Tacx app for virtual rides), and then also stopped and saved on the watch (or Tacx app). The watch does not need to be worn on, during the activity, though.

  • Yes trux that is entirely correct. It appears that the only way to do this is to have a watch. I saw a YouTube video for garmin hrm that suggested that the hrm would, store data which could then be downgraded to the app, much like if you were swimming. Is this possible?

As wrote, it is possible with the all-day data only. If you want to record an Activity, you need a device to start and stop the activity, since the strap does not have the capability to do so standalone. It does not have to be a watch, you can use also an Edge computer, and possibly some other Garmin devices. And if you have no other Garmin device at all, then you can record the activity with the Strava app on your phone, and then export it to Garmin Connect.

    See the HRM-Pro FAQ:

Can the HRM-Pro/Pro Plus Automatically Create a Timed Activity in Garmin Connect When I Am Wearing It?

No, the HRM-Pro and Pro Plus do not have the ability to record a timed activity. If you want a time activity file, you must start the activity profile using the compatible Garmin Watch or Cycling Computer first.

  • ... besides Strava, you can also use other apps that can read from the HRM-Pro strap over Bluetooth. Including Garmin's native Tacx Training app, which syncs to your Garmin Connect account automatically.

However, when using these apps, you need to keep the phone in the Bluetooth range (typically less than 10m) during the activity. I am not aware of any such app which is compatible with the Store & Forward feature of the strap.
