Poor support

Can someone help me reduce my anguish caused by extremely poor customer support i have received for a technical display issue in my few months old garmin forerunner245 ! I am thoroughly disappoonted at the support i got from indian Garmin team and angry at myself for my choice of Brand Garmin !!

Can someone help me..my repeated e mails have generated a curt reply of exchanging the watch and also paying almost more than the cost to get a new model..

I mean really...is that the customer support that brand like Garmin is proud of !

  • Most users seem to get a really good experience with Garmin Support. I've contacted them a few times and always got the help I needed including replacement of watch, watch strap and HRM chest strap. All was during the warranty period which is 3 years in Sweden where I live.

It is hard to say anything about your experience when we know nothing about the issue and the discussion with support.

The watches will usually be replaced if there is an issue with them. If it is not covered by the warranty you can often get a replacement at a cost.

The warranty in India is one year from date of purchase, but there are some exceptions typically if you cause the issue yourself or if the product is used in a way that it isn't supposed to be used.

    Consumer Limited Warranty

So, the question is what the issue is and what is the reason to why Garmin Support not will handle it as a warranty repair/replacement.

  • To clarify the issue further my garmin forerunner 245 has developed a digital vertical line on the left 1/3 of the watch display in about 14 -15  months of average physical activity usage.

This is without any rough use or damage or shock to the watch (not even a fall on the floor !). The customer support says nothing can be done as model has been upgraded so pay (approx more than the initial cost) and upgrade !

  • Ok. So, it is out of warranty and you will get an upgrade for less than what your current watch costed you.

That sounds like an ok deal even though I think it should hold longer than 14 months, but the warranty and consumer laws in India are what they are.

  • Not less !!  more than the cost of my present watch which has been in use for just few months....a display glitch which has nothing to do with any misuse or damage from my end...

From a brand ambassador in my social circle to an anguished user....the journey has been too short !!!
