How to update credit card in Garmin Pay?

I got a popup notification on my Android smartphone saying that a credit card in Garmin Pay is about to expire and needs to be reviewed.  When I clicked on the notification, it opened Garmin Pay in Connect.  However, there was no indication in Garmin Pay which credit card needed attention, nor do I see the expiration dates when I call up "Card Detail" for each card.

I can guess which card it is, but how can I then update the expiration date and CVV?  I don't find any way to do this.

  • Remove the card and add it again.

Look at the real cards to see which card is about to expire. If a card is about to expire then you should get a new card sent to you. That way you will know which card to replace.

What I got is a document with all my cards listed with expiration dates and what services I've added those cards to. Then it is easy to update all those services when I get the new card to not risk gettting services turned off.

  • Thanks, I was afraid that was the case: very annoying! Now I have to reenter name on card, card number and billing address, none of which have changed.

I can't look at the real card, because I am already using its replacement and have destroyed the expiring one. ;-)

  • I'm also having this issue, none of my cards are close to their expiration date. One card that Garmin says is expiring in 3 days actually expires in 2027.

  • If I hadn‘t remembered already exchanging the physical card, it would have looked the same way to me. I got the new card a couple of months before the expiration of the old one, started using the new one immediately and destroyed the old one. Garmin only complained much later, a few days before expiration of the old card.

  • Maybe your watch is still using the old card? How often is that card replaced? Some cards are replaced as often as every 2 years.

  • I had the same message but the problem was not the card itself or expiration date.  Garmin wanted me to change the pass code used to access the card through the watch. Once I did that, I can now use the card through the watch.

  • I had the same message but the problem wasn’t the credit card or expiration date. Garmin wanted me to change the pass code used to access the card through the watch. Once I changed the pass code, I was able to use the credit card on my watch.

  • I'm getting this notification too. Which 'pass code' are you referring to? The one you enter into your watch?

  • My "expiration" day came and went, now I get Garmin notifications showing that I'm negative days past expiration on 2 different credit cards. Neither card is near its actual expiration, neither has changed numbers or CVVs in years.

Clicking on the notification loads Garmin Connect to the animated watch guy, who runs forever without anything happening. Later, I notice my phone's battery has drained far more than usual, and Garmin Connect is the cause. Force close time.

Garmin Pay on the watch continues to work fine. Expiration has had no effect. Good times.

  • Same. Mine is at -3 days:)
