Crazy high calorie count

Today and yesterday, my Epix has decided I'm like sprinting all day or something. Yesterday, I did one 20 min spin session and it claims my active calories for the day were 2756 for an otherwise pretty sedentary day. Today, I lifted for 45 min and I'm at 5,376 active calories at 2 PM. I've tried updating the software. I've tried restarting the watch. My HR is all normal. I hadn't no idea where these crazy active calorie counts are coming from.

  • Verify whether you did not accidentally change your weight (or height). Also compare your current 7 days average Resting HR, and the Max HR with the values from earlier. Those are the main factors that influence the Calories calculation.

  • Height and weight are correct. HR overnight was pretty insane, claiming I was at 220 bpm from midnight until 2 am. HR yesterday, however, looks perfectly normal and expected. It's weird.

Well, if the HR stayed 2 hours at 220 (presumably above your Max HR), then it is no surprise you had huge Calories counts for that day. You'll need to troubleshoot that. If you are sure you do not suffer from tachycardia or arrhythmia, then try adjusting the tightness and the position of the watch before sleeping. Low temperatures or sleep apnea may induce peripheral vasoconstriction (reduced blood flow in the extremities), and consequently more problems for the optical sensor to detect your true HR. The same may happen if you use to sleep on the arm wearing the watch.
