Remove Autosave on pause (or resume later)

Why does my garmin auto-save after I have paused (intending to resume) it?  A very undesirable function.

If I take several (uncessary) steps futher I have to say yes to resume later (which is what pausing is) then I also have to answer a child-like question of "Approaching my bed time do I still want to resume later".

I both cases I paused as I want to resume later!

NOT to have my activity auto-saved without warning!!

SOLUTIONS

Maybe a buzz 5 mins before would solve this?

Maybe an option to opt-out of this option? (too many opts?)

Maybe scrap it altogether?

Maybe an on-screen choice ?

  • The timer until paused gets save is 30minutes I think. After that you get a vibration alert and a 30 second timer to do something about it.

The question that your sleep window is approaching is relevant because if you keep an activity in "resume later" you wont get your sleep data (and other metrics) recorded.

  • Thank you for taking an interest and responding.

I do NOT getting ANY warning that the auto save is about to happen and is un-stoppable.  I cannot find a way to switch one on.  Help, Garmin....?

My sleep window is more than 12 hours away...  maybe some people differ.

But a Pause is a Pause is a Pause.  Not an auto save.  My choice.

  • There are watches with the Resume later function. With that you can pause for how long time you like (days if you like). Simpler watches don't have that function.

If you pause for that long time then just log it as separate activities. If you really want to log it as one activity then join them afterwards.

  • Interesting that the Garmin Peeps cannot ever repond with some reasoning behing their decisions.

  • The watches that don't have that function are the watches that are less advanced. So, it is just product tiering. If you want the more functions you need to buy the more advanced watches.

  • I disagree, it would be easier NOT to have that function.  and @ £400 plus it in NOT the lower end bracket!

  • All watches got that function. The function that more advanced watches got is Resume later.

Price isn't all that decides the tier. Venu and Vivo are less advanced and more lifestyle. They can still be expensive. Especially the Venu models.

  • Doesn't defer from the fact that it make no sense and I see others have commented too
