Altitude trend in Garmin Connect app

Hi. Among the various data recorded on the Garmin Connect app by my Fenix 6, why am I unable to view the altitude trend, which doesn't happen, for example, is the heart rate recorded?

I can only view it if I record an activity, but if I want to know how the altitude changes during the day I can't?

is there a way to do this?

Thank you!

  • is there a way to do this?

Only by recording an activity. If you do not want to use too much battery, use a copy of an outdoor activity profile with disabled GPS.

Otherwise, you can also see the altitude graph of the last few hours directly on the watch.

    1. what a shame, but I don't understand why data that is processed by the watch isn't then saved on the app, it's still just a series of numbers, not even to say that it's an energy-intensive function
  • If you need to save it, you can. There is plenty of other data that is not being permanently logged either - for example the temperature, atmospheric pressure, location, ... If every single data that the watch is capable to process, was logged to the servers for all the tens or hundreds ofmillions of users, it would require increasing the storage capacity of Garmin's servers by Pentabytes (thousands of Terabytes) or even more.

You can still use your watch to consult the data, or record an activity if you really need to store the data, whenever you want. I see no shame on it.

  • I actually meant "What a pity that this feature is not available", sorry, english is not my native language :) In reality I asked myself this question when I analyzed the "stair climbing" activities that I sometimes do in a tall building, and it would have been interesting to also have the altitude but it is not saved in the activity and for this reason I had looked for it in the app but without success

  • it would have been interesting to also have the altitude

I do have the elevation graph in the Floor Climbing activity stats. The elevation is relative to the starting point though. It is not the absolute altitude above mean sea level. However, for analyzing the activity it should be sufficient.

  • ... and you can also have a look at the daily Floors stats - you have indeed the full history there for any day, regardless whether you recorded an activity or not. On this graph the values are in floors, so to get the relative elevation in meters, you have to multiply the numbers by 3.
