My vivosmart 5 is not showing accurate distances hiked. The maps show the hike but the distances are no where near close. A walk that used to show around 3 miles now only says barely a quarter?

Map is ok, distances are drastically off. Today if I just used step count I would have covered about 8.5 miles watch shows 3.5.
Dont know what happened, worked just fine then it lost accuracy. Checked the location settings on map app, it’s set to “precise”.
First of all, I'd try to soft-reset the watch by pressing and holding the Light / Power button for ~30s till it completely shuts down, then restarting, and testing another walk to see whether it helped. If not, then I would try the full reset to factory defaults. If still not OK, then I recommend contacting the Product Support through https://support.garmin.com
I have the same issue with running. 2 weeks ago I started to run and after 1km the band has displayed 77km. I have restarted the activity, but after next 4km it showed 76. Restarted again - running back 5 km, at the end it shows ~3km. The issue appeared on the all next running activities - crazy data. The track on the map looks fine. I have tried to use xiaomi app at the same time and on this app everything was fine.
I have fixed the issue by restarting the band (power off). But this week the issue appeared again.
So when I run, I use both apps (garmin and xiaomi). At the end if garmin fail, I fix the total distance according to xiaomi data (you can only change the total, but not the laps).
Already contacted Garmin support, but in 2 weeks they do not replyed. So I've wrote again, but everything is about talking, not the solution.
Planning to bring back the device to the seller as a faulty and take my money back!
P.S. Vivosmart 5.
I have same issue. Running with other people and my watch is showing totally different mileage and run speed. Have you had any answers?
