Live Track - How to get coordinates of current /last position ?

Hi everybody.

Today I had one of my MTB rides in mountain area with poor cell phone signal. I have a garmin edge 1040 on my bike and fenix 7 standard on my wrist.

I was late and my wife, who is on my live track list, started to worry especially because she was seeing me  not moving in the map. At some point she decided to contact rescue teams that obviously asked for coordinates of my last position. Somehow my wife managed to get them (google maps)  but she complained that she was unable to get immediately from the live track map she received.

As soon as I got cell signal back I call her and she managed to stop the helicopter that was about to take off.

QUESTION IS:

Is there a way to get coordinates from live track map received by a contact ? If not, shouldn't be something that should be implemented ?

Thanks

Alberto

  • Hi, thinking about this from the SAR perspective, it might be far more useful to simply forward the LiveTrack link itself to the responders (by txt or email) so they have all the info available and can plan accordingly and monitor for updates. Also relaying coordinates verbally can be really susceptible to error.

Not saying coordinates wouldn't be helpful, just that from the search perspective I want *all* the available info I can get, from the source (because it's often never enough). Glad you were okay tho! Cheers!
