Garmin Connect Connection Problems - No Upload from my watch to my phone

Hi,

Is there a possibility to get my activity, in this case a run, from my watch to Garmin Connect app while Garmin Connect has an outage? I also do not understand why an outage of the servers is also actively blocking my upload from my watch to my phone. This should really be decoupled.

Same thing here. In my group of friends some (older) devices were able to sync the activity at least to the phone. Mine (epix) wasn't.

There's an outage warning message on the GC for android

Then... you have definitely invested in the wrong watch... Me too

Garmin want to track all activities and store them in the cloud. Why? Don't know!

You'll have to wait. If you're getting this error message:

Garmin Status page shows several issues at the moment, including Activity Uploads.

Garmin connect is up and running 99.9% of the time. Unfortunately, you're trying it during the 0.1%.

This is the first time it happens to me in many years, so no big deal.

I am just surprised I cannot sync with the Android app.

They use the same backend servers.

That said, I thought the first step watch-phone didn't need any connection to server

Phone needs a connection to the web servers. Currently down. Activities are not stored on the phone. If you cannot wait, you can import the activity into strava. Then upload to Garmin once activity uploads become available - Upload and Sync Your Activities | Strava

Yeah fine, but this is not a good design and user experience. You can store the activity on the device and upload that later. I have no problems with having the activities in the cloud but after running and finishing a marathon at 1:30pm it would now really be nice to see my run! Now it's 7:45 pm by the way

That's Garmin.
The hole software is crap, since it needs a connection to do anything.
This feature also blocks the sync, when your are in the Mountains at a hut. There is no option to sync without an internet connection. This is nice, if the memory of you watch like getting full and you are in the middle of nowhere.
Or if you need to load an other track to your watch since your have to change for some reason. Even if the new track is on your phone you cannot download it to the watch without an internet connection.

From my point of view, the persons responsible for software at Garmin should do something else. Unfortunately the hardware is one of the best.
