Sleep Analysis Changed to "Sleeps Score"

Why has Sleep Analysis in Garmin Connect Changed to "Sleeps Score" and now  "Sleep Pulse Ox" also displays Sleep Score Data. There was no warning given and monotone graphics replacing colour are apalling

I lost a whole day thinking my sleep data was not recorded only to find out it had been consolidated into the "Sleep Score" tile.  The monotone graphics for superimposed graphs  of HR, Pulse Ox etc. are a poor replacement for the colour graphics in the now dissapeared "Skeep" tile. Now today,  when I open the dedicated "Sleep Pulse Ox" tile, instead of the informative colour graphics it is replaced by a repeat of the Sleep Score Tile.

What are the Garmin programmers doing? These are downgrades of the interface that add nothing. Please revert to what you had before and by all means improve it ...but not this! It's a waste of everyone's time including loyal Garmin users.

  • I do see all Sleep data under the Sleep Score panel, including the colored graphs, and including HR, PulseOx, etc. as well.

HR or PulseOx options are not enabled on the graph by default. You have to tap the option button (HR / PulseOx / BB / Respiration, ...) under the graph to enable it. Drag the buttons to the left, if you do not see them all - depending on the resolution of your screen, they may not fit all into the screen, but the button bar is scrollable.

  • Welcome to the club of "Garmin decides from the top down what customers get to see. When they ask questions, we simply say nothing. Never"

  • Thanks trux. You screenshot  shows exactly what I am saying. The secondary graph of pulse Ox is in a monotone, when it used to be colour code to to show  Green above 92%, transforming to yellow /oragnge at around 89% and  progressing to red below 85%. You will find all of the secondary graphs no loger have colour coding. I never thought to snap shot my pulse ox graphs which were appearing on the dedicated Pulse Ox tile, until a few days ago.  But I can illustrate the same sort of colour scheme. On the existsing HR graphs as hown below

The annoying thing is, that this change was never asked for. What was a rich user interface has been made worse.

  • Thanks Hexxer - while this is my first time experience of what you describe I have noted the same outcomes when I read the chats about other software changes that got a negative reaction. I have emailed Garmin support directly in the hope that someone will talk to the programming team and ask them a simple questions about exactly what enhancements they have made in this excercise. The "Sleep Pulse Ox" tile is now made redundant as it just shows the same data as the Sleep Score Tile.Thats not even smart programming. It looks lazy to me, and if they are changing the user interface for a reason they haven't explained or justified any of the changes..

  • This must be the result of a developer linking the "Sleep Score" page to "Sleep Pulse Ox" tile.

If it was intended to squeeze all night graphs onto one page, they would have not removed only "Sleep Pulse Ox" page, but also "Respiration" and HRV" since they can also be viewed on "Sleep Score" page.

Somebody very likely messed up. Hopefully they will fix it quickly.

  • Agreed. Horrible change and Garmin needs to fix and go back to what it was. Some developer just made a big bonus for dreaming up this idea in the middle of the night. Should be fired.

  • Hey all I contacted Garmin who admitted to changing the Sleep widget out completely in favour of consolidating all data in Sleep Score

Garmin reckoned that if enough people wanted it changed back they would consider it but I'm not holding my breath

  • How did you contact Garnin, through chat?

I didn't find a place to report issues.

  • Hi Everyone,

I'm happy to report that by googling "Garmin Product support contact"

Filling in Garmin Connect as the product and then scrolling to the bottom (past the FAQs) to contacts and choosing "email" (rather than "chat" or "call" and then entering the description the webmail window.

I got a great response by reply email.

    Hi Adam,

Thank you for contacting Garmin Australasia,

There has been changes being made with the Garmin Connect app, since version 4.70 of Connect web and GCM, Sleep has no separate report, My Day card, Daily Summary card. The user's sleep data is now consolidated under the Sleep Score now.

Garmin is willing to listen to community feedback regarding this change if you would like can I ask for detailed, specific feedback on what exactly you dislike about the new sleep score design or what specifically you miss about the old sleep widget design. Can you be as specific as possible?

If you have any further questions at all then please feel free to contact us on 1800 235 822 EST (Australia), 0800 427 652 (New Zealand) 8:30am-5pm (Mon-Fri).
