The newest android update has a light theme switchable in settings!

What is the Version number being reported by the update?

The web version of Google Play Store reports 4.70.1 updated 2023-09-14 as the latest. The on device version of Google Play Store reports 4.70.1 updated 2023-08-25. (As of checking on 2023-09-15 at 08:30 UTC.)

It's version number 4.71. Just got it from the Play Store.

Staged rollout. Just now got the update. Dark mode was so 2019.

It will be interesting to see what effect this will have on battery usage for devices with AMOLED and μLED displays.
