HR missing from manually added activity?

Hi there, new Garmin user with a new Venu 3. I'm coming from years of Fitbit.

So far, I have most everything working similar to what I had on Fitbit albeit with some workarounds - such as paying for the syncmyworkout service to capture my Peloton rides from Peloton to Strava to Garmin.

However, I also do a lot of strength training and for this, I don't care/need to use a Garmin activity that tries to track sets - I just want my HR at the end. With Fitbit, I would do my workout, add the activity manually in the app, and when the watch synced (often before I even added the activity), the activity would include my HR chart throughout the session.

On Garmin, when I add an activity in the GC app, it doesn't link it to the synced HR data in the activity so I'm missing those vital metrics to see how intense my workout was on my body vs normal. The HR info is just blank and no charts.

I'm hoping I'm just missing something, because I really valued my ability to track HR during lifting workouts.

Thanks,

-R

  • That is how it works. The HR logged while not logging an activity is just 2 minute averages and pretty worthless for using in an activity so it will not be added to your activity.

Just log your strength training with the watch. Start the logging and don't enter any sets, reps and weights. Then you will get the heart rate. The watch will auto create a set. Just delete that in Garmin Connect afterwards. That is how I do it.

  • Thanks ! Funny that's exactly what I was going to try next time but wasn't sure if it would help. I'll try that, thanks!
