5K Plan Not Adaptive

Hi there,

I started the 5K Greg McMillan plan and have found it not very adaptive to my needs. Even though I set the ratings to very difficult it keeps accelerating me through the program. If I can't run for 10 minutes straight why am I being asked to run for 15 and then twenty in the same week?

I was on Reddit and it appears many people have the same issue. One person said no matter what parameters they put into the program they get the same workouts.

There should be an option to back up the program so that people can work their way up to improve. Currently I feel it would make a lot of people want to give up.

  • I have a similar issue with coach jeff program. The app keeps increasing the distance even though I say it was very hard. I don't want to quit the program but I don't know how to slow it down to my level.

  • I found that you can schedule your own workouts. Go to the Calendar on the Connect app. Click on a date then click on the 3 dots. You can add a workout with your own parameters here.

    I'm recovering from an injury so I have to start slow. I am starting myself at running for 5 minutes and will work my way up when I feel comfortable. I feel like once I can run for 20 minutes without stopping I can start the program.

    This doesn't solve the problem of the programs not being adaptive but hopefully it helps.
