Don't count steps with baby carriage walking.

Hello! I have Fenix 7s Pro solar sapphire. All is ok with steps, but now i have a baby, and walking with baby carriage (Thule stroller), hand on it, my steps don't counting! How I can solve this?! :)

  • The watch must move to count steps.

    • Push with one hand.
    • Put the watch in your pocket.
    • Strap the watch to your ankle.
  • What about Running dynamics sensor? It will help?

  • An RDP will count steps during the activity but will not report steps to the step counter that is used for challenges and expeditions.

You need an HRM Pro or Pro Plus and add it to Garmin Connect. It will then work as an activity tracker just like a watch.

  • HRM Pro or pro plus count steps during activity only or not?

  • HRM Pro or pro plus count steps during activity only or not?

All the time. It sends HR and RD only during activity, but it records steps (and other wellness data) when your watch does not. And unlike what the FAQ tells, it records steps even if you wear the watch. I tested it by keeping the hand wearing the watch on the desktop, and doing some steps on place - they were correctly recorded as long as I was wearing the HRM strap (although they are not being shown in real-time on GC - you have to sync, in order to have them shown). I did not record any activity for the test.

However, if both the watch and HRM-Pro detect steps, then they will come from the watch (at least I think - that would require some more testing).

This is the FAQ I mentioned: HRM-Pro and Pro Plus: Top FAQs About the Activity Tracking Feature | Garmin Customer Support. As I wrote, the steps are counted even if the watch stays on the wrist - in contrary to the written note.

NOTE: The HRM-Pro/Pro Plus will only connect to the watch while actively recording an activity. If you are wearing the watch and not recording an activity, the watch will still be the primary wearable device. However, the HRM-Pro/Pro Plus will have step records (and other wellness data) for the time frame that the watch was off the wrist. The HRM-Pro/Pro Plus can remain paired to the watch during this time.

  • It depends on if it is also added to Garmin Connect. If added it will count steps and report outside of activities.
