server side calculations with multiple devices

Like many I have multiple devices, a vivosmart 5 which I wear most of the time as my primaire device, a forerunner 955 which I use to track my sport-activities and a cycling computer.
They all collect data and these data goto the Garmin server where everthing is sorted out and then you can track these on the mobile app. So far so good.

But then..

"Training readiness" does not give a complete score, there seems to be no "sleep score" although further down the app I definitly see a sleepscore. Whats going on? Why is my sleepscore not being processed in my training readiness?

"HVR- status" also only works partialy. I get a 7d avg. but no "nightly HVR-data". Where does the 7d avg. come from? And why no nightly HVR?
I've been told that the vs5 is only partly compatible with physio trueup (although the vs 3 and 4 are fully compatible according to the physio trueup garmin page) But the vs5 can give my a body-battery score which calculation is based on HVR so the vs5 collects the HVR data and sends them to the server. So why don't I get that back in the mobile app?

I rely do not understand why we can't get these basic data correctly shown in the mobile app, the data is there. I don't want to and can't wear the forerunner all day/night, besides the vs5 is a health-tracker so it should give the HVR-data as part of youre health-monitoring.
These devices should work together and give a complete picture, especialy because the calculations are done on the server side, or am I missing something?
Please tell me how to get this to work?

TIA
Guido

  • training readiness seems to be fixed, but HVR has disapeared :-)   :-(

and sleep data has been moved.

Would be nice if there was a change-log or some ducumentation on the why en when.

  • HVR has disapeared

I'm seeing HRV status. It might have gotten removed from your My Day screen after the update. Just add it back.

  • How do I add it back?

The "funny" thing is that I see some data on HVR in the new training readiness overvieuw, but in the new sleepscore overvieuw it says "no HVR status."

    So it's still inconsistent.

  • From the My Day screen, scroll to the bottom, then tap on "Edit My Day." Then add "HRV Status."

    1. found it.
It was already set for display, removed it and put it back just to make sure, but still no HVR :-((
  • Have you been wearing your watch while sleeping to at least receive an updated 7-day HRV average?

  • I wear de vs5 24/7 exept when running, climbing or racing, then I wear the fr95. So there's always a device on my wrist that collects data.

To my surprice his morning the HVR status was  back again, but now the sleepscore was missing again from training readiness so no score for training readiness (but the sleepcore datafield itself was there and gave me a score)

So it seems I either have a score for training readiness or a score for HVR-status, but not both. WHY??
And never do I have nightly-hvr.

It all seems highly inconsistent to me :-((

  • I wear de vs5 24/7 exept when running, climbing or racing, then I wear the fr95. So there's always a device on my wrist that collects data.

For the Training Readiness data only your Forerunner 955 supports this according to this article:

    https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=hsKqNlQksk0Q6Zf1EbIjO9

If you want the Training Readiness to be fully populated you would need to wear the Forerunner 955 all the time or for your Vivosmart 5 to support Unified Training Status. Unfortunately the Vivosmart 5 does not support Unified Training Status according to this article:

    https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=EjPECQK58qA0xzJ5X74vm7

This would also apply to your cycling computer.

It all seems highly inconsistent to me :-((

It is consistent in a way but you have to know which Training Status generation your devices are in and their individual capability, compatibility, and limitations when used together. It is complicated.

  • TrueUp, PhysioTrueUp, UnifiedTraining Status.... its seems like every device has its own way of dealing with the data and the sending back and foreward of this data.

So appearently the VS5 is not compatible, which seems strange to me because it measures HR and HRV (it uses these measurements.to give the "body battery" status)" So this seems more of a software then a hardware problem. I imagine this is a Garmin choise, perhaps we have to wait for the VS6 to be compatible.

But what I dont't understand is that some days (and like I said I wear the VS5 24/7 and the FR955 during my sporting-activities, never during the night) I get a "Training readiness" score and some days I don't.
On the days I don't get a score, the sleepscore is missing from the training readiness overview. BUT I do have a "sleepscore" status which is shown just be below my "training readiness" score. So why does the training readiness not use the sleepscore which is there for that day?

And at the same time, some days I get a HVR-status, where I get a 7d avg HRV but no nghtly HVR. I could understand that because I don't wear the FR955 at night. BUT where does the 7d avg come from? And why do I get this score on some days and not on other days? (like I mentionend before its seems like I either get a "training readiness score" with sleepdata OR a HVR-status, but not both). Why not both? Or why not the one or the other all the time? It's like I'm being teased with HVR-data, but never get the complete picture (the complete (raw)data)
This is what I mean with inconsistent.
The "My day" screen changes from day to day, sometimes it stays the same and sometimes it changes (HVR-status appearing/disappearing and Training readiness giving a score or not).
So what's going on? Why not the same "My day" every day? This is confusing and inconsistend.

Like I mentioned in my opening post, I can't image that I'm the only on who wears a small activity/health tracker like the VS5 24/7 as a primairy device and uses another device like a Fenix or a Forerunner for sporting-activities. I can only urge Garmin to make this work. I'm a multi-sport person (triathlon/trail running/climbing and some other) and I like to track my data and health via the Garmin -devices and garmin-connect to track progress and prevent over-training.

Things like Training readiness and HVR-data could help to stay in check, but only if you get the right data and in a consistend manner.
