Can Garmin Please Add Calories Back to the Activity Overview Panel?

I'm more or less ok with the Garmin app, but it's definitely way less quick reference now and requires digging even deeper for things in the apps for other brands.  For instance, I was able to deal with the tile for my activities (cycling, MTB, Climbing, and others) not giving a calorie count on the panel that goes up on My Day by clicking and seeing it there in the overview, but now I don't have it in the My Day panel. I click and it's not even in the overview.  Then I click on Stats and have to scroll down.  The app no longer really allows and quick comparison of runs and it really isn't even user friendly when checking a single activity.  I left Coros partly because their app is really bad, but now I have to say the Garmin app has moved down below the Coros app.

  • If you want to compare the calories for your running (or cycling) it is actually easier now.

Click Menu > Activities > Running
Switch to 4 weeks and the Calories tab.

Now you can see the calories for all your runs for the past 4 weeks and swipe back if you want to see the previous 4 weeks and so on.

  • That's actually not the same thing and I don't run, but cycle a lot.  While that's there and a form of it has always been there, that's not what I'm asking at all.  The fact that it's been removed now requires us to go deeper and click away all over the app.  I never said that the calories were not available.  I complained that where calories should be they were removed and now it requires clicking away inside and outside of the activity to the point that Garmin has effectively begun burying the calories related to an activity.  Your suggestion makes it worse because now you're suggesting I should be going outside of the activity altogether.  Again, I never said that the calories weren't available.  I'm complaining that they're new at least two steps into burying that value.

  • The same list is available for cycling. I thought you said you wanted to compare the calories between the rides. That page is the easiest way to do that instead of you having to click on each activity and look at the value.

If you want to see the calories for a single ride you just swipe right in the activity and it is there.

  • I just want the calories added back to the overview.  There's no reason to overcomplicate this.  It's like you don't get that this info should be available in the overview page, not numerous clicks and scrolls away.

  • Should? I don't need it so it is good that it has been removed from the overview. We all got different requirements.

What we instead should work for is to get the possibility to customize the overview page so everyone can view the values they like to view.

  • It even used to have 3 “bubbles” with the info I liked. Now that is gone is there a way to customize it?

  • is there a way to customize it?

Unfortunately, no. You do have some options though. Since this is working as intended, it's not an incident, so your best bet it to submit a request using Garmin's Share Ideas site. Other option is to install an older version using an apk site.

  • Yeah that would work. What’s an apk site?

  • An APK archive site is where older versions of android software are available. Not on the Google Play store. This is unsupported by Garmin. You would be using it at your own risk. One example is APKMirror. Personally, I'd prefer just getting used to the new version.

  • The values are the same as before. Ascent has always been there. I think the only value that changed is calories. It isn't any longer displayed in the overview page.
