Doubt maps and creation of MTB routes on trails/ creación de rutas MTB por senderos

After decades without a GPS cycle computer I fell into temptation with the Garmin 540. I have installed a very detailed map for Garmin where all the paths in the area appear, but I cannot create routes using them from the Garmin Connect (Android or Web) as it seems to use those from Google Maps and obviously no trails appear, only some forest tracks. How can I create new routes on paths using these very detailed maps?
A second question. I've imported some routes I had pending from Strava to the Garmin, will it tell me where they run without doing them from the Connect? I have seen some videos where they indicate that you have to put a waypoint at each junction for the navigator to warn you. Is that true?
In the route generator of the Strava website everything appears in detail, it is rare that Garmin uses maps so little detailed.

Thank you

I do all my routes in Strava. The maps there are more detailed, the heatmap function is better (more levels than in GC), I can zoom in a lot more, I can see buildings (you can in GC but not with the OSM maps that are the most detailed for paths), I can overlay it with my personal heatmap, more settings for the type of routing I would like.

When you create routes in Strava it will automatically sync to Garmin (if you connected them) and you will get all navigation prompts (at least I get that on both my Forerunner 945 and Edge 1030). You don't have to do anything extra. Just create the route and save it. After a sync it will be on all your Garmin devices.
