Hi there,
I've been using Garmin devices for some time now - fenix 7, Edge 1040, HRM Pro+ and Rally XC200 power pedals. They are all synced via Garmin Connect App.
The main reason I chose Garmin devices is the hope that as they are all part of the same brand, they will be part of an integrated ecosystem, which made sense to me.
I do some weight training, kitesurfing, MTB and indoor cycling so I opted for the devices stated above. I had my fare share of issues with the Edge 1040 multiple crashing in the middle of a desert MTB ride, Rally XC200 which would not connect over BLE no matter what (which I had to send back) and in general I can say we're talking premium prices and marketing hype, the thing most American companies are best known for.
That's why I cannot understand why these devices are so dumb and not communicate with each other?
For example - I set the Edge 1040 as primary training device, hooked it with the power pedals and HRM Pro+, while fenix 7 is the primary wearable. Whenever, I train on my bike I get readings from the Edge 1040 (HR, power, timing etc.), BUT the fenix 7 doesn't recognize that I'm training and sends alarming beeps on abnormal HR. This is so stupid. Also, when looking at Garmin Connect daily recap, the daily heart rate graph is not reflected during the ride time, although the timeline shows the riding activity.
The same goes for Daily Suggested Workouts! fenix 7 shows one workout, while Edge 1040 suggests a completely different workout on the same day! This has been the case since forever and it's so unintelligent that a mammoth of a company like Garmin fails big time!
I noticed recently that the Training Status is updated across devices (Edge 1040 and fenix 7) which was not the case in the past, and I guess that's a positive, but the fact that one person is...ONE PERSON, he just wears and uses various devices across activities. The fact that these devices do not integrate into one ecosystem that provides integrated information to a person is simply unacceptable. Garmin - get your act together (literally).
