Instinct 2X failed to connect to Garmin Connect

My brand new Instinct 2X failed to pair with my Samsung Note20 Ultra despite having latest Garmin Connect version, and also updated the watch firmware via Garmin Express (Computer version).

I have done several times of reset Bluetooth,  power on/off the watch and the phone. Nothing helps as the App always said cannot find the watch.

Really at wits end.

  • Hi trux,

Thanks for the tips. I tried some of them but didn't help. So I contacted Garmin Asia support and they were very responsive and get the issue resolved within hours. Thanks Garmin Support in Taiwan!

Apparently because my watch is purchased from Japan (Serial no. starting with 81XXXXXX), I have to go to my Garmin Account to change the country/location to Japan. Immediately after doing that, the Garmin Connect App detects my Instinct 2X and paired successfully.

Below is the instruction given by Garmin support on how to change the country/location in the GC app.

Hopefully, this post helps others who had bought the watch in a country different from their country of residence and encountered similar issues. Best of luck.

Garmin Connect app: (to change location)

    - Log out from Garmin Connect app

    - Launch Garmin Connect app

    - Select Advanced Settings

    - Change your location to Japan

    - Log in your account

    - Try to pair the device with your Garmin Connect app
